Welcome back to another review/swatch of my favorite red lipstick. Presenting the L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pure Rouge (Freida Pinto) Lipstick.
At first I was very unsure of which kind of red would suit my skin tone, so I wanted to try something from drug store so that I don’t have to spend much. After my amazing experience with L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Moisture Matte Lipstick – M511 Glamour Fuchsia, I decided to try something out from L’Oreal itself. You guys must know by now that L’Oreal is my favorite drug store brand. L’Oreal came up with this concept of introducing a particular color in different shades associating it with one of their brand ambassadors. “A Rouge for every woman”. They have Blake Lively’s scarleto, Freida Pinto’s Pure Rouge, Sonam Kapoor’s Pure Garnet, Li Bing Bing’s fire and many others. Out of the lot I picked up the Pure Rouge (Frieda Pinto) red lipstick from the Pure Reds Star Collection of theirs. So let’s get started on the review.
This range comes in a beautiful and classy packaging of black and gold. If that wasn’t enough imagine the red color lipstick coming out this beautiful black/gold packaging… Ahh…. Sheer joy to my eyes. 😀 The packaging is very sturdy. The cap shuts tightly with a click making it very travel friendly. The lipstick is autographed in golden by Freida.
The texture of this one is really matte. It does not flake the lips but it sure makes your lips thirsty if you aren’t hydrated enough. Again with any matte lipsticks it is true, the lips must be well exfoliated before application. This particular one is great because it does not settle into the fine lines of lips. It glides amazingly on the lips without tugging the skin. It stays put even after having all the food and beverages throughout the day.
Coming to the color pay-off, this is one beautiful color that I bet will suit any skin tone. Take it from me ladies, for the Indian skin tones this is a God’s gift. It is a darker than the brick red color with a cool undertone. It is highly pigmented, one swatch on the lips and you are good to go. It does not bleed at all and goes very well without a lip liner.
It is a dupe for Mac Ruby Woo. I have tried Ruby Woo in Mac store and decided not to buy because they were exactly the same.
Priced at INR 995 for 4.2 gm, it is little expensive for a drug store brand.
