You all might know about my love for MAC paint pot in layin low as eye shadow primer from my previous post. Today I am going to review yet another eye shadow primer and this time it is from Too Faced.
Name of the product – Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti Crease Eye Shadow Primer
Product Claims – Too Faced Shadow Insurance is an effective eye shadow primer which locks eye shadow in place preventing fading, creasing, smudging and melting. It’s also perfect for preventing hard-to-blend eye shadow accidents.
This skin smoothing formula works to even out skin tone and smooth away fine lines, creating the perfect canvas for shadows. It features unique binders which lock down eye shadow pigments for amazingly long wear and can be used with either powder or cream shadows. The anti-creasing formula holds eye makeup in place by securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup.
The vitamin enriched, silicone base formula glides over lids, smoothing the appearance of crêpe skin, whilst every eye shadow in intensified in color and effortlessly blended.
This Shadow Insurance primer ensures your eye makeup looks just as fabulous at the end of the day as it did when you first applied it!
Too Faced shadow insurance is super concentrated, meaning that a drop the size of a rain drop is enough to cover the entire eyelid.
My Thoughts – Vow this product claims a lot.
This is my first purchase from the brand – Too faced. I love the fact that their packaging has pastel shades with unique designs which gives them a vintage look. Honestly the packaging of the products from Too Faced makes me want to buy more stuff. This one comes in a tube form. The cap closes tightly and is leak proof. The body is made of plastic so it’s not heavy and is easy to travel with. The dispenser is pointy which makes sure very little product comes out. It ensures to dispense a rain drop size product to cover both the eyelids.
Let’s talk about its texture. It has a very thin semi liquid type of formula. It spreads easily on the eyelid giving enough time to spread on the entire eyelid. It doesn’t dry out quickly. It is a smoothing kind of primer. Oily eyelids might wanna stay away from it. The color of this one is beige when you dispense the product but becomes transparent upon spreading on the eye lids.
This eye shadow primer is very good when you want your shadow not to crease for 7 to 8 hours. It does make the eye shadow colors pop more but not very much. It slightly increases the color pay off of an eye shadow. I like the paint pots more for this purpose. Check out the picture below. It smooths out the eyelids. It says anti crease but after 7 to 8 hours I noticed some creasing. This will be noticeable with dark colors and Smokey eyes. Also it does nothing to contract the discoloration of eyelids. Although it doesn’t say that it will but I still thought that the product might cover the dark eyelids.
All in all I don’t think I will repurchase this one as I feel urban decay primers and Mac paint pots are better performers.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance comes in following variants :
- Original/Anti Crease – The original, suit-all skin tones Shadow Insurance: your full coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing and smudging.
- Glitter Glue – A colorless formula specifically created to lock down glitter and enhance its reflective quality. It eliminates messy fall out and grips loose glitters, pigments and shimmers in place until you take them off.
- Candlelight – Romantically lit with the shimmering golden glow of candlelight, this shade has a gilded, luminous formula which gives a sexy, soft focused light that enhances eye shadow and adds just a touch of warm metallic flair. Candlelight can even be worn alone for a subtle shimmering gold look.
